Kawane House Sencha - Sencha refers both to a type of tea as well as a way of serving tea.  Sencha tea is prepared by first steaming the tea to stop the oxidation of the enzymes, it is then crumpled while being hot air dried.  Sencha accounts for 85% of green tea produced in Japan.  Our house sencha tea has a strong, vibrant taste, and a beautiful light green color.

Kawane Connoisseur Sencha - This Sencha is made from the best, specially selected tea leaves.

Aracha - Aracha contains the entirety of the tea plant.  It is steamed, crumpled, and dried by the farmers right after it has been picked.  The tea refineries will buy aracha from the farmers to make different grades of tea.  Because the aracha has only been briefly dried it contains more moisture than other teas.

Genmaicha - Genmaicha is a casual tea which contains Sencha with steamed and  roasted white rice and popped rice.  It has a fragrant, mellow taste.

Hojicha - Hojicha is a roasted tea. It contains kawane sencha roasted over sand to give it a lighter more fragrant smell. Due to it's preparation, it contains very little caffeine. Hojicha has a delicious smoky flavor.

Matcha - Matcha is made from tencha, a different type of tea plant, it is grown in the shade, under cover, which gives the tea leaves a bright green color and a sweeter taste.  It is then ground into a powder using a stone mill.  Matcha is used in traditional Japanese tea ceremony.

Fukamushi Sencha - Fukamushi Sencha undergoes the same preparation as regular sencha except the leaves are steamed three to four times as long.  This gives the sencha a distinct taste and deep yellow-green color.

Gyokuro - One of the finest green teas available, gyokuro (lit. Jade Dew) has a wonderful sweet taste and a beautiful color.

Organic Sencha - This version of Sencha offers an organic option for those who prefer organic teas. THis organic selection comes certified as organic by the agricultural organization of Japan.

Organic Matcha - It is very difficult to cultivate green tea organically, the resulting yield is therefore much less.  This organic selection also comes certified as organic by the agricultural organization of Japan.
