Cafe Japon uses clean, low-mineral-content water to make tea. We serve tea in a teapot and provide refills to utilize all the tea properties. Any of our teas can be made iced or hot.

KawaneThese teas come from Kawane, a town in Shizuoka Prefecture, one of the most famous tea growing areas in Japan. These teas are some of our most popular, with a vibrant taste. |

Kawane House SenchaSencha is a type of tea that is prepared by first being steamed, and then hot air dried, rolled, and finally lightly roasted. It has a strong, vibrant taste, and a beautiful emerald color. |

Kawane Connoisseur SenchaThis Sencha is made from the best, specially selected tea leaves. |

ArachaAracha is made from the same leaves as Sencha, but is not roasted or refined. Aracha has a bold taste, and is one of our most popular teas. |

GenmaichaGenmaicha is a traditional tea which contains Sencha with roasted brown rice and popcorn. It has a fragrant, mellow taste. |

HojichaHojicha contains sencha leaves and stems, roasted over charcoal. Due to it’s preparation it contains very little caffeine. Hojicha has a delicious smoky flavor. |

MatchaMatcha is prepared very differently from sencha, it is grown in the shade, under cover, which gives the tea leaves a darker color and a sweeter taste. Matcha is used in traditional Japanese tea ceremony, and is served with a Japanese sweet. |

Black tea is prepared by first withering the tea leaves through an evaporation process. Then the leaves go through an oxidization process, turning the leaves brown. The leaves are then dried to stop the oxidization process, and sorted into grades. Black teas are often named for the estate where they are grown.
English BreakfastEnglish Breakfast tea is a combination of various black teas from India, Sri Lanka, China, Kenya, and Malawi. It was invented in Scotland by a tea master. It soon gained popularity in England, and became known as English Breakfast tea. |

Lapsang SouchongA black tea from Wuyi mountains of China. THe tea leaves have been withered over pine or cedar fires, pan fired, rolled and oxidized, before being fully dried in bamboo baskets over burning pine. The result is a robust tea with an overwhelming smoky scent. |

Monkey-Picked Golden HuananThis Chinese black tea was traditionally picked by monkeys due to the delicacy of the tea leaves and for good luck. This tea is harvested early in the morning to bring out the best taste. |
